This guide was published in 1992 for the first time. As you can see by the original publication years this guide is under constant development to represent the newest recognized standards and methods in fire investigation. Since its first publication this guide was well accepted as a worldwide standard. Now since the acceptance by CEPREVEN of Spain and its translation into spanish in 2001, this guide has got a more important role in the European Union, as one member of the E.U. has accepted this standard, which means that the standard is valid for all other members of the E.U. too.
This may have serious consequences in legal proceedings within the E.U. as all fire investigation results may now be challenged by the methods and standards given and/or proposed in this guide.
